Chicago is known for deep dish pizza, Italian beef, and hot dogs with neon green relish, but in the past few years we have seen an explosion of the Chicago BBQ scene with the opening of establishments such as Lillie’s Q, Smoque BBQ, BBQ Supply Co., and Milt’s BBQ.  Needless to say BBQ has taken Chicago by storm.

The Chicago Kosher BBQ Competition tests your smokin’ skills against teams from across the nation in a 4-category kosher BBQ competition sanctioned by the Kansas City BBQ Society. The categories include chicken, turkey, brisket, and beef ribs.

What makes a kosher BBQ competition special?

A kosher BBQ competition is more than a little different from your standard competition.  Besides the obvious exclusion of pork products, the entire process is strictly controlled. In order to keep things kosher, the competition provides almost everything you could need, including meat, spices, sauces, utensils, a grill and a smoker.

This has the added benefit of creating a level playing field for all competitors giving YOU the chance to get out of your backyard and into the fire of competition.
